The Job Enabling English Proficiency (JEEP) is a program by USAid integrated into curricular programs of USTP Claveria for 4 semesters or 4 modules. The JEEP Laboratory is equipped with 40 units of student’s PC terminal with headset, a projector, Local Area Network, teacher terminal and a License Software to automate the teaching and learning process. It is a blended approach for both face to face and computer aided instruction system. Its course contents mostly contain topics for English proficiency for practical use and job-seeking communication skills.

This state-of-the-art air-conditioned laboratory was acquired on November 2009, equipped with 41 computer units with headsets and a server, which serves as a venue for JEEP classes is obtained through the college’s tie-up with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through its Growth with Equity in Mindanao (GEM) Program.
The offering of JEEP courses aims at improving the employeability of graduates of Colleges and Universities in Mindanao by expanding and enhancing the English language training capabilities of colleges participating in the project.  The objective is that all colleges / universities participating in the JEEP project will produce graduates with the English language skills needed for productive employment in careers requiring reasonable proficiency in language.

JEEP comprises of a two-year group of courses offered to Second and Third Year College students.  The first course, known as JEEP Start, is a one-year program offered to Second Year students.  The course includes a  100-hour computer-based instruction supported by extension activities per semester.  This JEEP course is designed to develop advanced General English Language Skills.  After, the completion of the first year course, students who qualify will enrol in another JEEP course called JEEP Accelerate, a one-year course offered to Third Year students who have completed JEEP Start successfully.  JEEP Accelerate is another 100-hour mixed-mode instruction—a classroom-based speech lab and an internet-based learning which focuses on English for Specific Purposes (ESP) and English for International Employment.  It is intended to equip students with the specific English language skills needed for the jobs in such sectors as Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), tourism, nursing and allied health services, maritime services and others.  It will prepare students to take international English tests as gateway to overseas employment in these sectors.

To date, the College is doing the preparations for the JEEP Accelerate laboratory as the JEEP Accelerate classes will begin by the second semester of this school year.  This is another air-conditioned laboratory which will be equipped with computer units with internet access, printer, video camera, projector and screen.  Textbooks and other instructional materials will also be provided by the GEM-JEEP-USAID.
