The framework is anchored on the idea on how the University can contribute to the economic development of the country. With strong commitment to the USTP’s Mandate, the University is responsive to the national economic challenges. Thus, the University has categorized dimensions to which it can direct its effort towards contributing to national growth.
- Human Resource: The University will not only provide graduates but also experts in Science and Technology who are equipped with relevant skills that meet industry requirement to address skills mismatch. This therefore contributes to the reduction of underemployment and unemployment in the country.
- Technology Solutions: While providing competent human resource, the University also offers its expertise to the industries through technology innovations that responds to the industrial problems. The mandate supports knowledge generation and technological discoveries to be extended to needing industries, thereby eventually contributing to the industrial and economic growth.
- Technology Enterprise: The University is also instrumental in creating technopreneurs and in the promotion of business and techno-preneurship. These initiatives would then stimulate rural economies and ultimately sustain economic growth through technological support and innovations.
Although the foregoing dimensions address distinct areas in the economic development, the University also acknowledges that such dimensions are interrelated by design. Specifically, while pursuing innovations to provide technological solutions to industry, the University also provides key experience for students to practice their study and be part of the expert human resource or to engage in technopreneurship. This framework therefore suggests a very responsive system in the pursuit for national economic growth.
